Introducing UpStock, the winner of the Pause Awards 2023 in the ‘Design first’ category under Growth, and ‘Down under’ under Operators Category Track. 

Upstock is a comprehensive digital marketplace and ecommerce platform streamlining wholesale transactions for food and beverage products. It connects suppliers with restaurants, cafes, and markets, automating ordering, payments, production, logistics, and fulfilment to enhance efficiency and reduce waste across the supply chain.

At Pause Awards, we unite to spotlight simple and elegant solutions to the challenging business problems, well executed that resulted in a positive market adoption that brought business success. So let’s peek inside their breakthrough.

What was your breakthrough moment?

A key breakthrough was building a direct integration into supermarkets, so suppliers can manage supermarket orders along with their hospo orders. This is unique in the world – we track 200+ competitors globally.

Some supermarkets provide access to their online portal, yet suppliers prefer using Upstock and pay a premium because our software is designed so well. Upstock automates orders and transaction data flows directly into their finance systems. Without our integration, suppliers need to give staff special training to use the supermarket software, then manually transfer the data to their own finance systems. With Upstock it’s designed to be automated, accurate and reliable.

Our supermarket integration is very popular, it currently represents 25% of the order volume on Upstock.

Awarded to a single entry in a category, Grand Prix is the top accolade in that category. To win the Grand Prix, the entire Judging Board must unanimously agree that the entry deserves the accolade of being the best in that category.

The Growth track is about showcasing how businesses have enhanced productivity and execution to make a significant impact in their market. Entries should highlight innovative strategies that have optimised the customer journey, leading to increased engagement and commercial success. This track is for those who have effectively used their understanding of the market and customer needs to scale their business and achieve notable growth.

The Operators track seeks entries that showcase leadership in fostering innovation within their ecosystems. Ideal submissions will highlight how your initiatives have catalysed the creation of new products or services, bolstered by a culture that uplifts internal teams and the wider community. This track celebrates those who drive progress by empowering voices and forging transformative connections in their industry.
