Tixel’s Breakthrough Moment
Introducing Tixel, the recipient of the Pause Awards 2023 in the ‘Defiant ones’ category under Excellence Category Track.
Tixel is an honest marketplace for fans to trade tickets to any event easily, safely and fairly. They don’t allow sellers to grossly mark up tickets (face value +10%) no matter how hot they are and they empower event organisers with data/insights so their future events are even more successful. All sorts of fans use Tixel to buy & sell tickets to events like Beyond the Valley & Pitch Music & Arts Festival, big arena shows like Harry Styles & Taylor Swift, AFL matches, and the Australian Grand Prix.
At Pause Awards, we unite to spotlight simple and elegant solutions to the challenging business problems, well executed that resulted in a positive market adoption that brought business success. So let’s peek inside their breakthrough.
What was your breakthrough moment?
Harry Styles 2023 tour really marked the start of the big international acts that “broke the internet” per se. Cue Ed, Pink!, Coldplay and dare we say it, Taylor. We scurried to ensure these events had Tixel waitlists to match buyers & sellers and the ability to pre-auth a credit card to auto-buy as soon as tickets were listed by a seller.
As I type this, there are over 250K fans on waitlists for Taylor Swift, many of them ready to buy w/ pre-auth and our platform handled it all flawlessly. Now not everyone in live events is lucky enough to have sell-out shows; we knew discretionary spend was tight and our tools had to flex in the other direction helping drive primary ticket sales.
As live entertainment slowly revved back up to peak capacity, one thing consumers weren’t willing to give up was their newfound flexibility from simple changes of mind, to last-minute live-life-to-the-fullest decisions and abandoning of winter commitments for summer travel, and Tixel is here for it all.
