Tom Leyden – Judge
Welcome to the Pause Awards show, where we invite past winners and future judges to talk about their journeys, inspirations and lessons learned in their professional careers. And beyond.
In this episode, George Hedon, Founder of Pause Fest and Awards, speaks with Tom Leyden, CIO at Longview (ex Woods Bagot).
Tom is a global leader in IT with a broad range of sector experience. He holds an honours degree in computer science and a Masters in Management (Tech). For over 20 years, Tom has worked in multiple industries, including finance, business services and, more recently, architecture and design.
Tom is one of our returning judges, and this is what he says about his experience.
“People are putting their time and effort into entering; it’s our responsibility as judges to read them, review them, and understand what they are trying to achieve.”
Tom also shares how Woods Bagot designed the recently completed Melbourne Connect Innovation Precinct.
“We’re trying to move away from those traditional iconic buildings and focus more on how people interact in those spaces and how they enjoy the experience.”

We spoke about the Pause Awards and which categories Tom prefers the most.
“The classic – out of the Garage Award. Firms that have come from the dream and proven themselves to the world. It recognises the genuine toil and doggedness required to move beyond the startup phase.”
